Gillian Marie Jackson is a Canberra based artist with a broad base of experience as a teacher of 40 years. Art and artistic expression has become a focus in retirement.
Working in the art scene since 2015, Gillian is passionate about sustainable processes including up-cycling books, fabric and paper products. Her solo exhibition in 2018 focussed on the use of snake shed to create intricate patterns and textures. Inspiration for her work comes from childhood memories, natural textures and materials, and new knowledge. Beginning from a deep depressive state, creating, studying, thinking about and sharing art in different forms has given Gillian a clear head space. Her life long learning ethos means her work and focus is constantly changing and evolving.
